As the school year comes to an end, seniors like Tessa Kraft, who will be attending Loyola University Chicago, eagerly await walking across the stage at graduation. Others, such as Meghan Leppert, who will be attending the University of Cincinnati, anticipate senior week.

The last month of school for seniors means activities such as Senior Awards Night, Senior Activity Day, Commencement and Mission Graduation. These events are put on in order to celebrate seniors and their accomplishments throughout their time in high school.

On May 17, seniors will be served lunch and have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities as a part of Senior Activity Day. Additionally, an awards ceremony to recognize selected seniors will take place on May 15.

“I am excited to participate in all the senior activities like the cookout and the different banquets,” Leppert said. “It’ll be a fun thing to do before we go to college.”

Commencement will take place on Saturday, June 1 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The program begins at 3:00 p.m. and each graduate receives eight tickets for friends and family. The day before Commencement, students attend a rehearsal and are provided breakfast by the school.

“I am really excited for when we get to walk across stage and get our diploma,” Kraft said. “We have worked really hard these past four years in high school so it’s nice to get recognition for that.”

The night after graduation, the school puts on an event called Mission Graduation from 9 to 11 p.m., which allows seniors to spend time with their classmates one last time. More information on senior activities can be found on the FHS website.
