Jedi, lightsabers, the Force and iconic title crawl bring Star Wars fans young and old together. Now students can come together to share a love for all things Star Wars at the new club.

Star Wars Club had their first meeting on Oct. 30 to plan for the rest of the year.

“It’s a club where people who enjoy Star Wars and want to learn more about it can come and we do things like watching the TV shows and discussing the movies,” club president sophomore Kelsey Ortell said.

Ortell hopes to spark discussions on various Star Wars topics at their meetings and that students will be able to start new conversations about several of the different theories and debates.

“We discuss the movies, how we feel about the movies, which ones are better, new versus old, and do other activities that revolve around [Star Wars],” Ortell said.

The club also wants to offer students more hands-on interactive activities such as coloring, crafting and baking.

“We are trying to get 3D printing going on right now,” club vice president junior Kyra Stewart said.

Ortell and Stewart are working with media specialist Renee Isom to see about 3D printing spaceships from the movies. They also plan on a character building activity where students can create their own character and determine their story-line and background within the Star Wars universe.

For the holidays, the club plans on creating themed decorations and treats by customizing cookies and holiday decor with a Star Wars twist.

“We want to really get in the spirit of things and make a Death Star or two,” said Stewart.

The club plans on meeting roughly every other Tuesday. Students can stay up to date on their Remind by texting @fishswc to 81010. The club will meet again on Tuesday, Nov. 20 after school in A205 and plan to watch one of the movies or play games.
