Animation, according to the Park West Gallery, is a popular but underappreciated art form. It takes a team of animators, writers, producers and more to create an animated film. However, animation has won the reputation of just being for a younger demographic. While some films are made exclusively for kids, there are many recent examples of animated movies that appeal to people of all ages.

Disney, for example, has always been known for animated films made for all audiences. One of their more recent films, Christopher Robin, is an example of this. In this live action animated hybrid movie, viewers see Christopher Robin as a grown man with a job and family. As his life gets more stressful, his childhood friends Winnie the Pooh and the rest of the gang come back to see him.

This film has been praised for being relatable with an adult audience. The lesson about slowing down and enjoying life is a message that many adults and teenagers can relate to. Adults can also enjoy seeing their favorite Winnie the Pooh characters again from their childhood. While children get a fun and happy movie experience, the adults received the nostalgic bonus along with a good movie.

Disney is not the only studio making animated films for all ages. Sony Pictures Animation is currently making an animated Spider Man film. According to CartoonBrew, this movie seems to be aiming itself to a teenage audience from what fans have seen with the first trailer.

The movie follows teenager Miles Morales as he discovers that he is like Spider Man, who agrees to teach him how to use his powers. The full film will be released on Dec. 14, 2018.
