The story of senior starting quarterback John Vore has unfolded with him taking over as full-time starting quarterback after splitting the starting job last year. Last year, he got playing time in a two-quarterback system.

“John Vore is certainly a leader of that group [the offense]. He is one of our captains, being on the leadership council, starting three games as a sophomore, and several as a junior and played most every game,” head coach Rick Wimmer said.

Seniors H.L. Lewis, Andrew Voskuhl, and Collin Statz are all ready to be the leaders alongside Vore for this young offense.

Aside from a few new starters, the offense will still look familiar. Wimmer explained that this will still be the balanced offense for which the team is known. They will work to use a that balance to open up opportunities in the passing and running game.

“We have a lot of guys that are playmakers. If we’re having a bad game, we have a lot of players that can cause a change of momentum in one play,” Collin Statz said.

The team looked to work on a lot after the defeat. Drops were an issue as the team had nine total. The defense is striving to work on finishing plays. They felt that these mistakes were critical in the opening game loss.

Everyone was clear that this team is improving quickly ahead of the upcoming game this Friday, August 24th. The team will play their next game on the new turf against the Pike Red Devils. The Red Devils will meet them coming off of a 27-19 win over Zionsville.
