Imaginary friends and wild things take center stage in the children’s plays.  This year, juniors Hailey Davis and Julia Garrison are directing the plays. Davis is directing “Where the Wild Things Are” and Garrison is directing “The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend.”

“[My play] is about this imaginary friend that lives on an island with other imaginary friends and all of his friends are getting picked to go with their real friends and real children,” Garrison said.  “He’s a little upset, so he goes on an adventure to find his real friend and he runs into some trouble and he gets a little lonely and a little sad, but in the end, he finds his friend, and everyone’s happy.”

The IB students in their class period, including themselves, chose six books to present to the class. The class then chose the top two based on their preference and were separated into two groups to revise the stories and create the scripts.

“We helped our groups write and revise the script, and then we are about to be auditioning them,” Davis said. “Once we get into groups, we’re going to rehearse blocking, which is everything that people on stage are doing.”

The plays will be performed on May 18 and 19.  The performance on May 18 is during the school day and is presented for the students at Sand Creek Elementary School.
