“We’re trying to get more people comfortable with their thoughts and ideas,” club officer and senior Kaleigh Stohler said. “Improv Club is a place for people to have a creative outlet.”
During meetings, members do warm ups that relate to the lesson of the day. After warm ups, they play a variety of games that incorporate acting and improv skills.
“We mostly just try to make people comfortable performing in front of each other,” Stohler said. “We want to build their confidence and encourage them to try new things.”
While the club no longer competes against other schools, the officers are talking about hosting a showcase at the end of the year to demonstrate the skills they’ve accumulated. The date of the showcase is still unknown.
“Our focus is on being part of a team rather than competing against other schools,” Stohler said. “We want to allow everyone to be involved.”
Improv Club meets every Friday in the Black Box. Members of all experience are welcome.
