On Friday, October 27 the Tigers defeated Hamilton Southeastern 9-6 in the first round of sectionals.

After winning the Hoosiers Crossroad Conference Championship in the final game of the season against Zionsville, Tigers faced mudsock rivals HSE away in the first round of sectionals games.

“It is always a very special game when we play HSE,”senior kicker Ben Norton said. “The hometown rival is always something special but especially when we get to beat them two times in a season.”

Norton scored the first points of the game with a 24 yard field goal. Tigers were up three to zero to end the first quarter.

HSE scored the first touchdown of the game with a one yard touchdown to lead the game 6-3. At halftime HSE led the Tigers 6-3.

At the beginning of the third quarter junior running back HL Lewis scored a six yard touchdown for the Tigers to put them up 9-6. The Tigers then attempted a two-point conversion play but were not successful. At the end of the third quarter Fishers led Southeastern 9-6.

With under five minutes left the Tigers fumbled the ball at their own 43 yard line. On a fourth and one play the Tigers forced a turnover from the Royals with two minutes in the game left.

Tigers were able to keep possession of the ball until the end of the game resulting in a win for Fishers.

Top stats for the Tigers include senior quarterback Matthew Wolff who had over 20 passing yards and Lewis who ended the game with more than 30 yards rushing.

Fishers will face Pike next on Friday, November 3 at home for the sectional championship. For more information on the Fishers football team, visit the high school’s athletic website here.

“Pike is a team who we lost to pretty bad early in the season but we have a lot going for us right now as a team so I think we can finish strong with a win,” Norton said.
