“We are positive that we will reach our goal,” Feuerstine said.”

We The people for the first time, made it to the national competition by finishing first in the state. The students are trying to raise $36,000 in order to go on to their trip to Washington D.C. They have been trying to raise money by using go fund me, which is on the school’s website.

“This fundraiser is very important because it is to help send us to national competition and represent the entire state at the competition,” senior Jason Feuerstine said.

The group of 18 students that prepare speech competitions about the Constitution and showcase students’ knowledge of the founding U.S. documents. According to Feuerstine the school has not offered any support financially as of yet, the administration’s moral support  has been crucial to their success as a team. However, as Feuerstine said, the team has faith in their school to come through and help the students get the opportunities they need.

The students go on their trip from April 25 through April 28. The money is spent to rent hotel rooms, food, books, transportation and various things that they will need in order to stay and go to Washington.

“We are positive that we will reach our goal,” Feuerstine said. “However, if something goes wrong we will begin to sell the shoes of freshman who can’t find their classes and probably some of our kidneys.”

There is no doubt that the students will raise $36,000 in order to go to Washington, the fact is that they have already raised $32,000. In which means that they have made it to their goal, but will use to extra money on books or necessity that they need. They still ask local businesses for donations such as a lock-in at Ben and Ari’s for first through fifth graders on March 14. We the People will soon be able to go to national competition and represent the entire state at the competition.
